National Coal Mining Museum
Whilst at the Mining Museum the children had the opportunity to look around the Gallery, where they had lots of fun trying on uniforms and work clothes as well as asking lots of questions about the artifacts on display.
Sally Fletcher spent time with the children telling them about her life as a 5 year old down the pit and what her life was like. She even let some of the children dress up!
The children enjoyed meeting some of the pit ponies and seeing where the men who worked there would take a shower after work. Bringing history to life really sparked a light inside some of the pupils, and they were asking lots of questions about the era and the buildings they were looking around.
We were lucky enough to have sunshine and we rounded off our day with a nature trail walk after a blast on the adventure playground. The children had the chance to do brass rubbings and learn more about the trees and plants.
A special thank you to our volunteers who came along!

World Book Day author visit
Whilst World Book Day itself was a snow day for our school we celebrated early with a visit from author Stephen Pass at the end of February.
Stephen read extracts from his book 'Madge the Mermaid' and worked with the children on their creative writing skills!
The children really enjoyed the day and some of the work they produced was amazing. They loved hearing about Madge's adventures and many children bought a copy to take home and continue reading.
Health Week 2018
The whole school took part in a fun filled week at the end of last half-term with lots of healthy activities for the body and mind! We welcomed special visitors for karate sessions, yoga, Zumba, mindfulness to name a few, enjoyed cooking and art activities and finished the week with a lovely local walk!
